On February 6, a public discussion on “Police Reforms and the Establishment of the Ministry of Internal Affairs” organized by the “Union of Informed Citizens” NGO took place at the Hilton Hotel in Yerevan.<\/p>\n

RA Deputy Minister of Justice Kristine Grigoryan, RA Deputy Chief of Police Ara Fidanyan, The\u00a0Head of the Migration Service of the RA\u00a0Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure\u00a0Armen Ghazaryan\u00a0, as well as civil society representatives Daniel Ioannisyan, UIC program coordinator and Arthur Sakunts, president of the Helsinki Citizens’\u00a0Assembly-Vanadzor office.<\/p>\n

Deputy Minister of Justice Kristine Grigoryan presented the process of police reform and the vision of creating a ministry. Deputy Chief of Police Ara Fidanyan and Head of the Migration Service Armen Ghazaryan presented the process of reform in their departments and the main aspects.<\/p>\n

Daniel Ioannisyan and Artur Sakunts presented the civil society approaches to the reforms, as well as raised issues related to the inclusiveness and transparency of the process.<\/p>\n

According to the established tradition, the speakers answered the questions from each other and from the attendees, and touched upon topics of most concern to the public over the police reforms.<\/p>\n

The “Union of Informed Citizens” NGO, being involved in a number of ongoing reforms in Armenia, will later organize public discussions on the ongoing reforms.<\/p>\n
