The seminar-discussion entitled “Police Reform: Establishing the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Guard” took place

On November 12-13, Union of Informed Citizens, supported by Freedom House, held a seminar-discussion dedicated to police reform, the establishment of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Guard.

Journalists participating in the discussion were selected through a competition. people who influence the formation of public opinion were also among the participants. RA Human Rights Defender Kristine Grigoryan, First Deputy Minister of MES Artyush Grigoryan, Deputy Minister of Justice Arpine Sargsyan, Deputy Chief of Police Ara Fidanyan, Chief of Migration Service Armen Ghazaryan, Chief of Patrol Service Artur Umrshatyan, Senior Law Enforcement Advisor to the US Department of State International Bureau of Narcotics and Law Enforcement Audie Holloway, as well as patrol officers from the Yerevan Regiment gave speeches during the event and answered the questions of concern.

Daniel Ioannisyan, UIC Programs Coordinator, also gave a speech, talking about the role of civil society in the process. The event was organized ahead of the upcoming discussion of the legislative initiative package on the establishment of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the parliament in order to raise awareness about the nuances of the issue.
