On February 24, the Union of Informed Citizens closed the “Promoting Accountability and Public Oversight of Public Procurement” program in a public discussion format.
Ambassador of the United Kingdom to the Republic of Armenia, H.E. Alexandra Cole, and Deputy Minister of Finance, Avag Avanesyan delivered welcoming remarks at the event titled “Monitoring Public Procurement: Overview of Implemented Activities”.
The speakers at the public discussion included Tsovinar Vardanyan, Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs of the National Assembly, Avag Avanesyan, Deputy Minister of Finance, Artashes Hovsepyan, Representative of the Road Department Fund of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Gevorg Kotanjyan, President of the Direct Democracy NGO, Lilit Grigoryan, Journalist at the Information Committee NGO. The discussion was moderated by Daniel Ioannisyan, Programs Coordinator at the Union of Informed Citizens NGO.
The discussion was attended by officials from various state bodies, representatives of civil society and the media, and other individuals interested in the field of public procurement from Yerevan and the regions. During the event, the changes already implemented and planned in the field of public procurement, existing problems and possible mechanisms for their resolution, as well as the prospects for cooperation between civil society and the state in the context of public oversight were discussed.
The event was organized within the framework of the “Promoting Accountability and Public Oversight of Public Procurement” project, which is implemented within the framework of UK International Development from the UK government.
