On Monday, December 26, a public discussion on the topic “The constitutional status of the President in a parliamentary republic” will take place.

The discussion is organized by the Armenian National Platform of the EU Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum and the Union of Informed Citizens ahead of the constitutional reforms in Armenia.

The public discussion will take place at 16:00 on the 2nd floor of the “Elite Plaza” Business Center  (“Mantashov” Hall).

The speaker is Daniel Ioannisyan, member of the Constitutional Reforms Commission, the moderator of the discussion is Hovsep Khurshudyan, the the EAP CSF national facilitator.

It should be noted that according to the decision made by the Constitutional Reforms Council at the end of November, the Republic of Armenia will continue to remain a parliamentary republic under the new Constitution. At the same time, the Union of Informed Citizens and the Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Vanadzor Office presented proposals to the council related to the powers and status of the President, which will be discussed at the Constitutional Reforms Council on December 28.
