A few days ago, at the sitting of the professional commission on Constitutional Reforms, it was decided to include the issue of creating a Supreme Court in the Concept of Constitutional Reforms, uniting the Constitutional Court and the Court of Cassation.
Constitutional oversight will be decentralized, allowing courts of general jurisdiction to exercise constitutional oversight as well. Eight out of fifteen members present at the sitting of the commission voted for this issue.
The purpose of this reform, according to the members of the professional commission who voted in favor of this change, is to improve the efficiency of the judiciary, increase public confidence, and insure the independence of judges and courts, as well as the reform of legal education.
