Union of Informed Citizens turns to the General Prosecutor’s Office in relation to the case of violence against the Member of Parliament

On May 27, the law enforcement officers used violence against MP Ashot Simonyan in front of the ARF office.

On May 29, the Union of Informed Citizens appealed to the RA General Prosecutor’s Office to initiate criminal proceedings in connection with the mentioned incident.

According to the Union of Informed Citizens, the objective aspect of the videotaped action of the law enforcement officers apparently corresponds to the characteristics of hooliganism provided for in Article 297 of the RA Criminal Code.

It should also be noted that the circumstances subject to proof provided for in Article 102 of the RA Criminal Procedure Code can be confirmed or denied exclusively within the framework of the initiated proceedings, with the application of the entire criminal procedure toolkit.
