On April 18-19, a two-day practical workshop titled “Building Societal Resilience to Disinformation and Hybrid Threats” was held in Tsaghkadzor. The workshop was organized by the Union of Informed Citizens and the Civic Resilience Initiative (CRI).
About 30 representatives of non-governmental organizations were selected to participate in the event. Over the course of two days, they had the opportunity to learn about the main disinformation narratives in Armenia, the mechanisms of their spread, as well as the local experience of fact-checking. The Armenian trainers included fact-checking journalists Ofelia Simonyan (Media Initiatives Center, “Checked”), Ani Grigoryan (CivilNetCheck), and Nane Manasyan (Fact Investigation Platform, FIP.am).
During the workshop, Monika Jakimčukė, a journalist at Delfi Media Holding, conducted a special training course on detecting fake news, fake accounts, and information manipulations generated by artificial intelligence, while Tomas Kazulenas, Director of the Civic Resilience Initiative NGO, presented the Baltic experience in combating disinformation, and conducted an OSINT practical workshop.
The workshop aimed to develop the capacities of civil society in the fight against disinformation and strengthen the information resilience of society.
The project is funded by the Fund for the Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid.
